Good Brothers A Week Later

September 13, 2020 by Justice Rajee

In this episode Majestic and Justice return to the realities of the week that was in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmad Arbery. Protesters are in the streets demonstrating and disrupting the day to day comfort of those that would silence them as we record. We felt it was best to look over what has happened and how we are sitting with all of this. We move through the world in the ways we do and we wanted to bring you into ongoing thoughts we share. Please take the best part for yourself.

Acknowledge People with Sam Thompson

September 12, 2020 by Justice Rajee

In this episode I am joined by Sam Thompson. Sam is a father, friend, and a committed community member. Over the years Sam has been at the middle of many efforts to do for the community, often by just organizing people to give to others no organizations involved. This was the first time we were able to connect in the midst of this global pandemic. I hope we bring a little joy to you. Take the best part for yourself.

Good Brothers George Floyd

September 12, 2020 by Justice Rajee

This week Justice and Majestic discuss Andre Harrel, cultural power, and mentorship. In this season of loss we wanted to celebrate and reflect on the importance of commitments to each other and what we project out to the world. Andre Harrell had an impact on our lives and we wanted to speak to the impact in a way that made sense to us. Much respect to Betty Wright and Little Richard who also returned at this moment in time. Take the best part for yourself.

Reflecting On Economic Outcomes For Black Men

March 30, 2018 by Justice Rajee

This month the NYTimes Upshot published an article and data visualization piece reporting on a longitudinal study of the economic outcomes for Black men. The data was striking and clear, but there is so much to think about when we are touching on numbers to characterize the experience of Black men, Black women, Black people and all people that I felt it was appropriate to pull this into the show this month. Two previous guests of the show Sam Ashby and Jamaal Green joined me to discuss and reflect. I hope you find our discussion informative and that it adds to your understanding of the many issues this piece pulls into the current conversation about our society. Please read the piece, play with the data tools, and check out the full academic piece from the Equality Opportunity Project.
